Saturday's route will explore back-road miles of Franklin County, where "the Piedmont's red-clay, tobacco-bearing swells butt up against the granite-tinged eastern edge of the Blue Ridge." The highlight of the route will come during our ride through the Rural Historic District of Cahas Mountain.  A very scenic and rural area south of Roanoke with cattle pastures and apple orchards dominating the landscape. Some of you may remember Cahas Mountain from Lance Armstrong's 1996 stage win in the Tour DuPont .
