Accommodations
Outdoor Camping:
Most Bike Virginia cyclists camp each night on the grounds
of Victory Stadium/Rivers Edge Park while in Roanoke and at
Rockbridge County High School during our stay in Lexington.
You will need to bring your own tent and camping gear.
Mobile Camping:
A mobile camping service will be provided on Bike Virginia
2005 - The Valley Byways Tour. This "sherpa" service will
increase your time and energy at Tent City by allowing them
to do your work for you. They will provide a dome tent (single
or double), air mattress, sleeping bag, pillow, and towel.
In addition to supplying the campers with the Tent City Basics,
they will also set up and tear down your camp on a daily basis.
For more information and to make reservations, please visit
Mayberry's Sherpa Service at www.sherpamayberry.com
Indoor Camping
(non-air-conditioned): If you did not bring a tent,
indoor camping is available each night on a first-come, first-serve
basis. So far, we had no problem accommodating the 75 cyclists
choosing this option. Simply roll-out your sleeping bag and
pad in the gym at each location. There is no additional fee.
Motel:
Motel accommodations are available on a first-come basis.
You need to make your own motel reservation. Remember to mention
that you are part of the Bike Virginia Tour to get the discounted
prices. If you choose a motel not on our list, luggage transport
from Bike Virginia will not be provided.
