When
Should I Start Training?
NOW! An average of 60 miles a day for the short distances
paired with the varied terrain will require you to have
an adequate level of fitness. Sign up for local club rides
and try to get at least three days per week in the saddle.
We know one area of anatomy that really needs conditioning.
A goodstretching program will help you avoid strained
muscles. In addition, a weekend ride in May or early June
of around 60 miles for two consecutive days should be
just the ticket to round out your training.
A helpful hint is to find the steepest hill near your
home and do some climbing training to help you through
those rolling valleys. Hill climbing can be as much psychological
as physical. Work on your mind! Hills are our friends
- they slow us down and let us center. Who needs yoga
for better breathing when we're hill climbing?!
Please come physically prepared to bike 60 miles a day
for five days. Accidents can be attributed to tiring easily.
Come ready to ride as SAG support is limited. Suggestion:
