Bike
Virginia is proud to announce the host towns for the 18
th annual Bike Virginia , which will take place on June
24-29, 2005. In the tradition of Bike Virginia , we selected
our host towns based on the expressed desires of our Bike
Virginia participants. We visited numerous localities
during the weeks following the Shenandoah Odyssey and
we feel confident that our selection of Roanoke and Lexington
, as our 2005 Host Towns, will offer the perfect combination
of natural beauty and southern hospitality that we have
all come to expect. Start planning now and keep checking
the website for more information.
Roanoke,
known as the “Capital of the Blue Ridge” and the “Star
City of the South,” will serve as one of our
Host
Towns, while the Roanoke Valley in which it resides will
serve as our playground. The Roanoke Valley , with its
mountain beauty, historic heritage and southern grace
is truly a bicyclers' paradise.
Lexington
, nestled in the Shenandoah Valley , is the special place
that has all the ingredients for a perfect bicycle tour.
Surrounded by natural wonders and beauty, Lexington and
Rockbridge County boast hometown charm, southern hospitality
and a history unmatched.
There
is no better way to experience this setting than from
the seat of your bike. One of the things that sets Bike
Virginia apart is the local flavor of each destination.
You'll have a chance to meet the people behind the scenes…the
folks that play the music, prepare the home-cooked meals,
or do the things that make each host town – and the time
you spend there – extra special.
