Welcome
to New Market
New
Market, a registered Virginia Historic Landmark, is a
growing tourist center that offers educational, historic
and recreational facilities. Easily accessible, this quaint
town makes an ideal vacation or day-trip destination.

Poke about a variety of antique, gift and specialty shops;
explore caverns; golf at the base of the Massanutten and
Shenandoah Mountains or stroll the streets and battlefields
where cannonballs fell. A number of restaurants and a
distinctive combination of lodgings are available. If
you have never been here before, come now, come this year.
If you are already an old "valley veteran,"
come back.
Welcome
to Mount Jackson, one of many friendly
small towns
in Shenandoah
County, Virginia. The Mount Jackson Historical District
is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.
Mount Jackson is rich in
Civil
War history. We have several Civil War era buildings.
The Union Church in downtown Mount Jackson was used as
a hospital, and you can see where the wounded soldiers
wrote their names on the wall. Likewise, Our Soldiers
Cemetery has a monument listing the names of soldiers
from all the Confederate states who died at the Mount
Jackson Confederate Hospital. Also, near Mount Jackson,
you can see the longest Covered Bridge in Virginia.
