Campers
Bike Virginia will transport your luggage to the next
Tent City each day. You will bring your luggage to the
luggage truck at Tent City each morning before 8:30 am.
Host Town assistants will load your bag on the trailer.
You will pick up your bag at Tent City in the next town.
Luggage will be sorted into four piles based on the COLOR
of your Bike Virginia luggage tag.
Motelers
If you are staying in a designated Bike Virginia motel,
your luggage will be shuttled to and from the luggage
truck located at Tent City. Only designated Bike Virginia
motels (see list on our Accommodations/Motels
web page) are eligible for this special delivery and
pick-up. All other luggage (bed & breakfasts, inns
and non-designated motels) are your responsibility. When
you leave your motel, you will simply bring your luggage
to the designated pick-up area at the motel. All luggage
must be at this area before 7:30 am. We will transport
it to the next town and again to your specific motel.
Be sure to write the name of your motels on the special
WHITE Luggage tags. The cost of this service for the entire
week is $15. If you have not already paid this you will
need to pay it at Registration in Bridgewater.
Luggage Limits
Campers
Those cyclists camping each night or some nights are allowed
to bring TWO bags for the week. Generally, one will contain
your clothes and one will contain your camping equipment
(tent, sleeping bag, etc). Separate tent poles and other
individual items will not be transported between towns.
Remember: no cooking equipment is allowed in Tent City.
If you are camping with a friend, maybe you can limit
your bags to three by sharing your camping bag.
Motelers
Those staying in motels should only have ONE hard suitcase
or soft bag. Black tie attire is not required for the
downtown nightly parties! Please plan out what you really
need and pack lightly.
Everyone
Do not bring several small bags. The limits above must
apply to everyone. Your small personal bag is your bike
bag. Remember that someone in each town is handling your
luggage for you. Be kind to our luggage crews. Creative
packing is a win-win situation for all.
Do not tie things to the outside
of your bag, such as lawn chairs, coolers, tents, etc.
Do not bring framed back packs or luggage buggies with
wheels which could damage other cyclists' luggage. Do
not use plastic bags to stow gear or luggage. One white
luggage tag will be issued to motelers and two each of
color luggage tags for campers. If you are camping some
nights and staying in a hotel others, you will need both
white and colored tags. Pets are not allowed on Bike Virginia.
